Waterloo Uncovered is the ground-breaking charity combining world-class archaeology with veteran and serving military personnel wellbeing and recovery through discovery of the Battle of Waterloo. We currently have two programmes available, for which applications are now open.
- Finds in the Community, in collaboration with the Wiltshire & Berkshire Rifles Museum in Salisbury. Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to handle unique objects from the battlefield of Waterloo, and learn key skills from our archaeologists as they connect with heritage. Delivered over 6 weekly sessions, during June and July 2026 it will culminate in an outreach event. Contact: Liam Fitzgerald, l.fitzgerald@waterloouncovered.com
- Battlefields Uncovered, a virtual programme that supports veterans and serving personnel to learn and develop knowledge, reduce loneliness and isolation, improve mental health and wellbeing, and equip beneficiaries with transferable skills. Starting in November the programme runs for 20 weeks until April 2027 and is online. Contact: Vicki Haverkate, vicki@waterloouncovered.com
Our innovative programmes provide access to the archaeology and heritage of Waterloo, support recovery and wellbeing, and in turn, enable beneficiaries to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to engage with heritage. We are currently accepting referrals of individuals who have a wellbeing need and would benefit from this type of activity. More information is available from our programme leads.
