In this latest edition of a ‘View from the Bridge’ the new First Sea Lord, General Sir Gwyn Jenkins, talks to Stephen Watson about his priorities and the orders he’s received to prepare the Royal Navy for warfighting. This is his first video interview since assuming command in June.
Outlining his first 100-days plan, General Gwyn talks about the need for rapid change and the urgency needed in embracing autonomous and uncrewed systems. The next four years will be a defining period for the Navy and the role of our people will be paramount, he asserts. He goes on to highlight the work of the RNRMC, who he believes need to continue their support in order to have ‘our back’. This ‘View from the Bridge’ was recorded in HMS Prince of Wales, during the Carrier Strike Group’s recent visit to Japan.
