BLESMA

Double-amputee Blesma Member Hari Budha Magar has conquered the highest peak in Greece

Hari Budha Magar continues to scale new heights in his quest to change the perceptions of disability, conquering Mount Olympus, the highest peak in Greece, earlier this summer.

The former Royal Gurkha Rifle corporal, who defied the odds to summit Mount Everest two years ago and has summited five of the world’s seven highest mountains, said reaching the top of the 2,918m Mount Olympus was a ‘dream’ achievement.

“This was not only about reaching the summit but also about raising awareness of disability and inspiring others to climb their own mountains and conquer their dreams,” posted the 46 year old, who lost both his legs in an IED blast in Afghanistan in 2010.

“This is the higher purpose that I’ve found in my life, and I will keep chasing it.”

Hari has also recently completed his No Legs, No Limits speaking tour, which took place in 18 venues across the UK.

“It was super successful, and the reaction to the talks has been amazing,” Hari said.

“My audiences have included people with disability, outdoor and mountain enthusiasts, recently diagnosed cancer patients, cadets, school children, university students, and the serving and retired military community.

“My primary aim was to raise awareness of disability and inspire others to climb their own mountains and conquer their dreams, and I also raised more than £5,000 for five charities, including Blesma.”
