Race Across the UK returns for 2026 – the ultimate endurance challenge is back

The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) is thrilled to announce the return of Race Across the UK (RATUK) for 2026 – an epic endurance challenge combining adventure, teamwork and fundraising in support of the Naval community.

Taking place from 6–9 October 2026, teams of two will race from RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall to Inverness, travelling the length of the UK with no cars, no planes and no map apps. Armed only with a paper map, their determination and what they can carry on their backs, teams must navigate their way between checkpoints, relying on teamwork, resilience and ingenuity to reach the finish line.

Registration opens on 26 December 2025, with teams encouraged to raise £3,000. Every pound raised will help RNRMC support Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families, providing vital assistance to those facing injury, illness, mental health challenges or financial hardship. Funds raised contribute to recovery programmes, wellbeing initiatives, family support and practical help, ensuring the Naval community is supported for life.

Sam Nicolson MBE, CEO at RNRMC, said:

“Race Across the UK is more than just an endurance challenge – it’s a chance for teams to push themselves, work together and experience something truly unique. At the same time, every step they take and every pound they raise helps us support serving personnel, veterans and their families when they need it most. We’re thrilled to see RATUK return for 2026, and we can’t wait to welcome teams ready for the adventure and the opportunity to make a real difference.”

The 2025 event brought together teams from across the UK, raising vital funds while delivering an unforgettable experience. Participants highlighted not only the physical and mental challenge, but the strong sense of camaraderie that developed along the way.

Aiden and Oli from the 2025 Navy Leaders team said:

“Race Across the UK was both a demanding and deeply rewarding challenge, giving us a real appreciation for the vital support the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity provides. What really made the experience stand out was the spirit of the other teams. From the lively group chat that kept everyone laughing throughout the entire event to the teams who met up in the days before the race, there was a genuine sense of connection from the very start. By the time we crossed the finish line, it felt less like a competition and more like a community brought together for a meaningful cause.”

Places for Race Across the UK 2026 are limited, and teams are encouraged to sign up early to secure their place. By taking part, participants will push themselves both physically and mentally while raising essential funds to make a lasting difference to the lives of those who serve and their families.

Registration is now open.
