Forces Wives Challenge CIC (FWC) has received a grant of £11,290 from Greenwich Hospital to expand its core activities into the South West of England over the next year.
This funding will enable FWC to reach and engage more partners of Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel, ensuring greater access to wellbeing, resilience-building, and personal development opportunities for Naval partners in the region.
Founded in 2019, FWC is a Community Interest Company with over 2,200 members. The organisation brings together partners of Armed Forces personnel for military-inspired adventure, wellbeing, and leadership activities. Through its Adventure Academy and Leadership Development Programme, FWC helps women gain adventure qualifications and transferable skills that boost confidence, resilience, connection, and employability.
FWC’s mission closely aligns with Greenwich Hospital’s charitable objectives, especially in enhancing the wellbeing and life chances of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines community. This grant will allow FWC to extend the positive impact of its programmes to new participants, strengthen support networks, and empower women to navigate the unique challenges of military life.
Dr Maria Theofanus, Research and Education Grants Manager at Greenwich Hospital, said,
“Greenwich Hospital is delighted to support Forces Wives Challenge CIC in this next stage of its development and looks forward to seeing the benefits of their work delivered to Naval partners across the South West of England.”
Heather Sharp, Chief Executive of Forces Wives Challenge, added,
“Military life brings unique challenges, and this funding enables us to strengthen our support networks, improve wellbeing, and help women develop skills that benefit both their personal lives and future employability.”
