Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity awarded £266,720 by The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has been awarded £266,720 from The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, marking a significant milestone in the enduring partnership between the two organisations.

This generous support reinforces a shared commitment to championing the wellbeing of the Royal Naval community. The funding will enable RNRMC to continue delivering essential support, invest in vital projects, and ensure that serving personnel, veterans and their families receive the care they need, when they need it.

To further support families, RNRMC now has a dedicated team based in Scotland, working alongside community partners to deliver tailored services that strengthen long-term family resilience. By bringing together national best practice with local delivery organisations, RNRMC aims to improve mental health and wellbeing, foster stronger community connections, and enhance wider social support for Royal Navy and Royal Marines families.

One example of this support in action is Strengthening Families – West of Scotland, a new RNRMC programme launched in April to assist Royal Navy Submariner families facing the challenges of service life and separation. The initiative supports submariners and their families at all stages of their journey, addressing the pressures of extended deployments and limited communication.

Sam Nicolson MBE, Chief Executive of Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, said:

“We are immensely grateful to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for this outstanding award and for the strength of a partnership that has endured for many years. This funding will make a tangible difference to the lives of serving personnel, veterans and their families, enabling us to deliver vital support across the Royal Naval community. The Tattoo’s continued commitment to the Armed Forces is both inspiring and deeply valued.”

Jason Barrett, Chief Executive of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said:

“2025 was a monumental year for the Tattoo, and it’s incredibly special to see that success translated into tangible support for so many charitable cause.

“Being able to support the incredible work done by RNRMC with both veterans, serving personnel and their families is the reason why the Tattoo exists and will continue to thrive.

“This achievement belongs to our performers, our teams, and the audiences who joined us night after night and sets an exciting foundation as we look ahead to 2026 and our Show, A Call To Gather.”

As the principal charity of the Royal Navy, RNRMC exists to support the health, wellbeing and morale of serving personnel, veterans and their families. Since 2007, the charity has distributed millions of pounds each year to organisations and initiatives that provide life-changing support to those who have dedicated their lives to service.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, celebrated globally for its spectacular performances against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, has long been a passionate supporter of military charities. Over the past 16 years, the partnership between the Tattoo and RNRMC has helped raise over £1 million, delivering lasting impact for Royal Navy and Royal Marines communities across the UK.
