Kettles On: RNRMC launches Stand Easy 2026

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) is inviting the Naval community to pop the kettle on and take a meaningful pause this May as Stand Easy returns for 2026.

Taking place during Mental Health Awareness Week (11–17 May), Stand Easy is RNRMC’s annual fundraising campaign encouraging serving personnel, veterans and families to come together over a brew – creating space to connect, talk and support mental health and wellbeing across the Naval community.

Inspired by the naval command meaning “pause, but remain ready”, RNRMC recognises that while service life brings pride and purpose, it also brings sustained operational pressure. With ongoing global uncertainty and high-readiness roles, many in our community are carrying extra worries alongside deployments, relocations and time apart from loved ones.

More than 40% of veterans report difficulties adjusting to civilian life, and one in four adults in the UK experience a mental health condition each year. In 2025 alone, RNRMC supported 3,874 beneficiaries where mental health and wellbeing was the primary area of need, investing over £800,000 into counselling, therapeutic programmes, peer support networks and family services.

For former Royal Marine James ‘Jim’ Brown, that support proved life-changing. After experiencing isolation in retirement, he found renewed purpose through Veterans Outreach Support (VOS), supported by RNRMC.

“I am so grateful that I found this support,” he says. “I feel part of a community again – it has truly changed my life.”

Hosting a Stand Easy event can be as simple as a tea break in a mess, wardroom, workplace or at home. However big or small, every brew helps.

Now, more than ever, a simple pause can make a powerful difference.
