Greenwich Hospital has awarded the RFS Foundation funding to provide employment, wellbeing and tailored support services for Royal Navy partners over a 12‑month period.
With RN/RM/RFA families representing a quarter of RFS’s beneficiaries, demand for specialist support remains high. Frequent moves, overseas postings, career disruption and the additional challenges faced by Foreign & Commonwealth families all underline the need for accessible, stable provision. This funding will strengthen RFS’s delivery and extend its reach across the Royal Navy community.
A dedicated RN/RM/RFA Programme Manager will serve as a central point of contact for partners, coordinate referral pathways, build partnerships, and lead on targeted engagement activities such as careers fairs and community information events.
The grant will also sustain RFS’s three core programme pillars:
- One‑to‑one coaching and mentoring, delivered through a network of more than 90 volunteer mentors.
- Practical wellbeing support, addressing stress, isolation and the pressures of Service life.
- Specialist support for Foreign & Commonwealth families, including qualification conversion and employability guidance.
By December 2026, the programme aims to reach more families, reduce isolation among overseas and hard‑to‑reach groups, and strengthen connections across the wider Naval support network.
Dr Maria Thefanous, Research and Education Grants Manager, Greenwich Hospital, said:
“We’re pleased to fund this programme so partners can access practical help, career expertise and opportunities that can lead to job opportunities and improve day‑to‑day life. Greenwich Hospital is committed to backing initiatives that strengthen wellbeing and resilience across the Royal Navy community.”
Ella Cartwright-Terry, Director of Partnerships and Fundraising, RFS Foundation, said,
“The funding from Greenwich Hospital will make a tangible difference to Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary families. It allows us to expand tailored employment and wellbeing support at a time when many partners are juggling real pressures and complex challenges. We’re proud to strengthen our work across the Naval community and are committed to helping families build stability, confidence and long‑term resilience.”
