Preparing to move to a new posting

The time of year is approaching when many Army families have to start thinking about upping sticks and moving their entire lives to a new home because an assignment order has come through.

For the next two months our AFF social media channels will focus on some of the chores and challenges you face when you’re preparing to move to a new location.

We offer guidance and information on the move-out process. There’s a reminder to check any permanent enhancements you’ve made to your SFA are up to scratch. And we provide a few helpful tips to make your move go more smoothly.

Overseas assignments

AFF and the other two Families Federations have just commissioned research into the experience of families posted to overseas locations. It will cover the earliest stages, including deciding whether to take an assignment. It will hear evidence about challenges families face while overseas. And it will look at reintegration back in the UK afterwards or moving on to a new location abroad.

We’ll update you with opportunities to share your recent experience of the overseas posting cycle with the research team.
