Last week, X‑Forces Enterprise brought together partners, supporters, and practitioners from across the Armed Forces community for an in‑person networking event held at Google’s HQ in London. The event created a dedicated space to focus on military partners, spouses, reservist families, and women in business, individuals whose contribution to the Forces community is vital, yet too often under‑recognised.
Designed to go beyond traditional networking, the day centred on practical enterprise insight, honest conversation, and meaningful connection. Participants engaged in facilitated roundtables, peer‑to‑peer discussions, and expert‑led sessions exploring sustainable self‑employment paths such as portfolio careers, freelancing, micro‑businesses, and family‑run enterprises.
Across the room was a shared understanding that enterprise for military partners is not simply about commercial ambition. It is about creating flexibility, resilience, economic independence, and continuity in the face of mobility, disrupted careers, caregiving responsibilities, and service life demands. By bringing lived experience together with specialist business support, the event reinforced the importance of coordinated, community‑led approaches to enterprise support.
This event formed part of the Supporting the Unsung Hero programme, with beneficiary places enabled through Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust–backed partners and enterprise support delivered by X‑Forces Enterprise alongside the wider Forces enterprise ecosystem. Its success highlighted the value of cross‑sector collaboration in ensuring military families can access the right support, at the right time, through trusted referral pathways.
“As X‑Forces Enterprise continues to reconnect in‑person delivery across regions, we’re pleased to confirm our Supporting the Unsung Hero enterprise programme in Cyprus is now scheduled to proceed. I’m delighted that no one is being left behind and that this important work is moving forward.” – Ren Kapur MBE, CEO of X-Forces Enterprise
A huge thank you to Google and their team for hosting, to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for funding this important work, and to everyone on the panel and in the room. The event was truly off‑the‑grid and exceptional, made possible by the collective energy, honesty and commitment of the community.
If you, or any of your beneficiaries, would benefit from engaging with structured business start‑up support, peer networks, and partnership opportunities while based overseas, we would welcome the opportunity to connect.
