The Wellermen to Join HM Royal Marines Beating Retreat This July

The internationally acclaimed Wellermen will join this year’s Massed Bands of HM Royal Marines Beating Retreat, bringing their distinctive sea shanty sound to one of the nation’s most spectacular displays of military music and pageantry.

Taking place on 16 and 17 July 2026 at Horse Guards Parade, Beating Retreat will feature more than 200 Royal Marines musicians, the precision drill of the Corps of Drums, a Royal Navy Guard of Honour and the moving Naval Sunset ceremony. Audiences will also enjoy a special guest appearance from The Wellermen, whose modern take on maritime music has earned them a global following.

Known for reviving traditional sea shanties for a new generation, the group has introduced millions of people around the world to Britain’s rich maritime heritage. All proceeds from the event will support the work of Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, helping to provide lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.
