Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) were delighted to receive our Certificate of Commitment to The Seafarer Pledge from the Merchant Navy Welfare Board. This marks an important moment for our charity, which was established after the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War – a conflict in 1982 in which more than 100 Merchant Navy ships were taken up from trade, along with the men and women who crewed them and were critical to its success.
Since 2007 we have delivered services to eligible Merchant Navy members and their families and we have been supported by maritime charities such as The Seafarers’ Charity, Greenwich Hospital,Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity, Royal Navy Benevolent Trustand Trinity House.
VOS was recently proud to become a constituent member of the Merchant Navy Welfare Board, the sponsors of The Seafarer Pledge.
In the video here, our CEO, Ian Millen, shares a message about what this honour means to VOS.
