This Self Employment Discovery workshop is a powerful, one-day virtual workshop created for veterans, reservists and family members who are curious about self-employment but want clarity before committing. Fully funded by Royal Greenwich Hospital and the Army Benevolent Fund, this programme removes financial barriers so you can make the right decision for you and your family.
Delivered by X-Forces Enterprise (XFE), this interactive one-day workshop creates a safe, trusted space where military-connected people come together to explore the realities of business ownership and help you make a clear, informed decision, whether you’re at the very start of your journey or exploring what self-employment could look like for your future.
What You’ll Learn:
- Understand the true realities of self-employment: Gain an honest, practical view of the rewards and challenges of running your own business.
- What business ownership means for you personally: Explore the impact on your lifestyle, finances, family, and wellbeing.
- The key traits of successful entrepreneurs: Discover the traits, skills, and behaviours of successful business owners.
- The support that is available to you, and how to access it: Learn what help exists, how to access it, and how to avoid trying to do everything alone.
- Make a confident, informed decision about your future: Leave with clarity on whether self-employment fits your goals—and what your next step should be.
- Powerful peer-to-peer connections and networking: Connect with others who are on the same journey and share your background
By the end of the day, you won’t be left wondering “What if?”, you’ll have the clarity to decide if self-employment is the path for you and not least be able to use this invaluable skill in other career choices.

- Family Members (18+)

What you will need to attend this workshop:
- Personal laptop or tablet with a webcam and mic, i.e. We encourage participations with interactions with our trainers and fellow joiners during the session.
- Zoom or Teams access and stable internet (min. 2 Mbps).
- A quiet space where you can fully enjoy the 1-day session.
- We will send out joining instructions the day before, make sure to check your junk mail if you didn’t receive it in your inbox.
Important Note:
- Some MOD/work laptops block Zoom so we ask that you use a personal device if possible.
- Please join from 09:20a.m. so we resolve any problems with connection and we can welcome you properly.
