Michael and Ross, racing as Procurement Patrol on behalf of Headline Sponsors Babcock, reached Inverness shortly after 5am on Thursday 8 October, becoming the fastest team to complete this year’s challenge after an incredibly close final push.Team Sea Dust followed just two minutes later, bringing an extraordinary race north to an end.
Final results remain subject to post-race invigilation, including checks that teams adhered to race rules and budgets. There is also still plenty to play for, with a number of other awards and titles recognising teams’ achievements throughout the race yet to be announced.
Race Across the UK challenged 23 teams to travel from Dartmouth to Inverness without cars or map apps and on a limited budget. The route in between remained a secret, with teams only discovering their next destination when they reached each checkpoint.
Michael and Ross first met when Ross helped interview Michael and stayed in touch, discovering a shared love of a challenge and an equally competitive streak.
Before setting off, the pair said they were most looking forward to pushing themselves, testing how adaptable they could be and seeing “how much kindness is still out there”. With limited budgets, that kindness proved invaluable, with teams relying on the generosity, lifts and helping hands of people they met along the way.

It’s a real testament to the commitment, preparation and determination that went into this challenge, both before the start line and throughout the race itself. Beyond the competition, one of the highlights was meeting the other teams and spending time with so many fantastic people along the way. It was a tough but hugely rewarding experience from start to finish, and one we’ll remember for a long time.”
