Billy’s rally raises £2,000 for military charity

Billy Grew, a nineteen-year-old engineering apprentice at Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) raised more than £2,100 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in the recent Phil Price Memorial Woodpecker Rally near Ludlow.

RBSL is one of SSAFA’s Corporate Partners, and the company sponsored Billy and his M-Sport prepared Fiesta R2 in the rally. Billy, who works in the Life Extension Programme’s Test and Trials team at RBSL’s Hadley Castle Works in Telford, was up against 170 other enthusiasts as part of the UK premiere Gravel Championship, covering 44 stage miles through Haye Park and Radnor Forest.

Jessica Sanders, SSAFA’s Corporate Partnerships Officer, said:

This has been a fantastic effort by Billy, so hats off to him and to RBSL for their support. RBSL not only sponsored Billy, but also used the rally as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for SSAFA – and also a big ‘thank you’ to Barclays for match-funding the amount raised.
