Caring compassionately for veterans with disability or dementia

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is pleased to award a £50,000 grant to Royal Star & Garter to provide residential care for armed forces veterans.

Royal Star & Garter’s three care homes in Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe provide outstanding residential care and a relaxed homely environment for over 190 military veterans and their partners to help them live happy and fulfilled lives.

This grant will go towards Royal Star & Garter’s Wellbeing Programme, which provides residents with a wide range of social and entertainment activities, exercise, physiotherapy and external support from health experts. The programme also encompasses individually tailored specialist care for over 80 veterans living with dementia.

Caley Eldred, Director of Supporter Engagement, Royal Star & Garter, said:

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and their latest generous grant for £50,000. This will support our Wellbeing Programme, which provides person-centred care to all our residents, bringing joy, interest and fulfilment, and improving their physical and mental health. It is at the very heart of the care we provide.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

Royal Star & Garter’s care homes are among the most highly rated in the country. As its brand states, this wonderful organisation has been providing ‘care with courage’ to armed forces veterans for over 100 years, including award-winning specialist dementia care. Our charity is honoured to support its work.
