Charity golf day raises thousands for Worthing veterans

Care for Veterans – a Royal Star & Garter Home has hosted its annual Charity Golf Day at Ham Manor Golf Club.

The event, sponsored by Volker Highways and Broadleaf Tree Services, brought golfers from across the region together for a day of competition on Thursday 14 May, and helped raise over £5,600 for the Worthing Home.

Care for Veterans provides long-term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life care to veterans and their families living with disabilities, including acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions. It is now part of the Royal Star & Garter group following a merger last year.

Golfers started off their day with coffee and bacon rolls before teeing off on the historic Harry Colt‑designed course.

After finishing the 18 holes, they returned to the clubhouse for a two‑course lunch. A charity auction and raffle added to the fundraising total, with donated prizes helping to generate further support for the charity’s clinical and rehabilitation services.

Clare Silva, High Value Events & Corporate Manager for Care for Veterans said:

“We are grateful to all teams, sponsors and prize donors who contributed to this year’s event and to Ham Manor Golf Club. The funds raised will help us continue delivering essential care and rehabilitation to the veterans who rely on our services.”
