China Fleet Country Club official affiliation with HMS TAMAR

We are delighted and immensely proud to announce that the Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE, has approved our formal affiliation with HMS TAMAR.

Our links with HMS TAMAR go all the way back to Hong Kong. HMS TAMAR was the name of the Royal Navy’s base in Hong Kong from 1897 to 1997 and many of the sailors who served there would have enjoyed rest and recreation in the China Fleet Club. Now with the China Fleet Country Club being based on the River Tamar the links of history and geography have combined to enable the start of a new relationship and demonstrates the value the Royal Navy places on the support we provide to our beneficiary community.

The Trust Chair, Rear Admiral Mike Wood CBE DL JP, said

“I will ensure that we will do all we can to support the Royal Navy’s newest and greenest warship wherever her future operational programme takes her and that her crew and their families all feel that the Club is theirs in which to relax, enjoy and feel at home.”

China Fleet Country Club is an award-winning hotel, golf and health club set in 180 acres of stunning countryside on the banks of the River Tamar in Saltash. Having first opened in 1991, the Club celebrated its 25th anniversary with HRH Princess Anne and welcomed the Royal Navy’s First Sea Lord in 2018.

All serving Royal Navy, Royal Marines (including Reservists), RFA personnel and their immediate family are automatically members of the China Fleet Country Club.
