Forces in Mind Trust – Chief Executive

£90,000 + benefits

Forces in Mind Trust is an impact focused charity with a mission to enable all ex-Service personnel and their families to make successful and sustainable transitions to civilian life.  With a spend-out-date of 2031, current assets are £23M. The Trust delivers its mission by generating a high quality and compelling evidence base that influences and underpins policy making and service delivery, and by strengthening the Armed Forces charities sector through collaboration and leadership, and by building its capacity.

With a clear, programmatic approach to funding, the Trust delivers an annual programme of activity in line with key focus areas (including Housing, Health and Employment), each with desired beneficiary outcomes and guiding priorities. To underline the Trust’s commitment to impact, four change mechanisms have been identified: Knowledge and evidence; Influence and convening; Collaboration and leadership; and Capacity building. All are clearly linked to driving change and enabling successful and sustainable transitions.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant spend-out trust at a critical time in its journey, and the Chief Executive will drive the Trust’s agenda and strategy forward with passion and focus. A credible and engaging leader inside and outside the Forces charities sector, the role requires demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the issues that are unique to the Armed Forces community. You will bring proven leadership credentials and the ability to develop strategy and turn it into deliverable plans. A track record of successfully influencing to achieve systems change, combined with a commitment to a data and evidence led approach is essential. Finally, the Trust’s Chief Executive will bring creativity, a sense of urgency and passion for the mission.

Forces in Mind Trust is committed to achieve greater diversity in its team and actively encourages applications from diverse communities, regardless of race, age, sexuality, beliefs or disability.
