Greenwich Hospital continues funding partnership with Armed Forces Education Trust to support Royal Navy Service Children

Greenwich Hospital will continue its funding partnership with the Armed Forces Education Trust (the Trust) for another year to help provide additional support for schools with high numbers of children from Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary families.

The Trust has received a grant of £62,315 to carry out projects and provide interventions in four schools that were selected through the Trust’s grants assessment procedure. The funding will be used to provide Service children with additional educational and wellbeing support given that their learning and development can be adversely affected by the challenges of military life.

The schools receiving funding are:

  • Lympstone Primary School, Exmouth£2,618.32
  • Braunton Academy Trust, Barnstaple£12,096
  • Devonport High School for Boys, Plymouth£35,000
  • Montpelier Primary School Plymouth£12,600

As part of the agreed collaborative framework, the Trust will continue to oversee relationships with the schools and manage the assessment and monitoring of grants through its well-established processes, ensuring funding is directed where it will have the greatest impact.

For more than 150 years, the Trust has supported children from Armed Forces families whose education may be disrupted by frequent moves, parental deployment, family separation, gaps in learning or additional educational needs. Through grants to schools and individuals, the Trust helps remove barriers to learning and ensures Service children have every opportunity to thrive.

This second year of funding builds on the success of the partnership established last year. It reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that children from Royal Navy families receive the support they need to achieve their full potential, regardless of the challenges associated with Service life.
