Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace, and Hillsborough Castle. We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and other people have shaped society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, HM Tower of London welcomes over 3 million visitors each year. It’s hard to imagine a time when the Tower wasn’t as welcoming as it is today. But it is precisely because of its diverse, fascinating past that this magnificent historical building draws so many visitors from around the world.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Security Professional to lead and develop our security operation to ensure the provision of a safe and secure environment and security service for all visitors, staff, and residents at the Tower of London.

Reporting to the Deputy Governor, you will be responsible for managing a large team, providing a front of house security provision and perimeter patrol service, as well as a control room that has oversight of the whole Tower operation, providing support to all teams on the ground in what can be a multitude of incidents.

You will work in conjunction with all departments and external bodies such as police authorities, military personnel, and other emergency services, building robust and lasting relationships to assist you and your teams in delivering a royal welcome, whilst also maintaining a safe and secure site for all our staff, contractors, residents, and visitors.

As the Chief Security Officer, you will proactively manage your teams, ensuring that professional security standards are constantly delivered. You will also be responsible for delivering a strategic approach to security operations at the Tower, including managing budgets, and updating policies and practices according to changes and updates in the internal and external environment.
