We have an extensive video archive of filmed interviews and our website [legasee.org.uk] is the gateway to viewing all of our veterans. Our mission is to make this valuable resource accessible and useful for teachers, historians, and researchers.
Volunteer Opportunity: Keyword tagging
We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to help us assign keywords to particular campaigns, places, battles and events in order to improve the search functionality of the website.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to develop and implement a comprehensive tagging strategy that covers key military events, themes, and individuals from WW1 to the present day that are spoken about by veterans in the archive.
- Review and refine existing tags for accuracy and relevance.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure the tagging system aligns with the needs of our diverse user base, including historians, educators, and the general public.
Experience:
- Strong understanding of military history from WW1 to the present.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience with archives or databases is a plus, but not essential.
