Operation Re-org is the area of our work that has specific relevance to the military community. Operation Re-Org is our ex-military skills for employment programme; it helps veterans who have struggled to find permanent employment because of difficult personal circumstances such as physical injuries, mental health problems, substance misuse issues, homelessness or having a criminal record.

We work with local forces charities to identify veterans who may benefit from our help. The programme, which is led by Terry Morley, a veteran who served with the 1st Battalion King’s Regiment, includes:
– Personalised assessment to identify support needed and establish goals
– Intensive 1-1 mentoring, support and training to build skills and confidence
– Development of a ‘working mind-set’ – essential workplace behaviours
– Job brokerage services to support people into job vacancies followed with 6 months in work support
– Bespoke training packages to support veterans back in to employment including accredited qualifications e.g. health and safety, first aid and CSCS.

The aim of the programme is for veterans to progress into sustained employment and gain long-lasting positive changes in their personal circumstances as a result of having a regular salary and routine, the opportunity to learn new skills, increased social interaction and improvements in confidence and feelings of self-worth.

We also provide additional IAG support services and work with a wide range of employers in the public and private sector to help them recruit armed forces veterans into their workforce.

We are also a specialist provider of employment focused support services for people that have a criminal record, including through the gate support for people that have served a custodial sentence.

At ICARUS we have developed a flexible and sympathetic treatment model which recognises the unique nature of military service and the military mindset and explored and adopted new concepts and treatment protocols, working on the basis that no ‘one size fits all’. Effective treatment has to be tailored to the individual and their personal circumstances. Reintegration back into civilian life often causes additional complications along with employment issues and drug and alcohol abuse. Even managing practical matters can impact on a veteran’s mental health. We try to offer veterans as much support and time as they require, to enable them to lead normal, well-adjusted lives.

All calls and enquiries are conducted in complete privacy. We understand the immediacy. You will be contacted and seen within 24 hours. All our sessions are online, using applications such as Zoom or Skype. Virtual treatment allows us to be more flexible with times and availability.

The majority of our team at ICARUS are connected to the armed forces – veterans themselves, married to veterans or closely associated with serving personnel. This veteran-to-veteran approach has been absolutely integral to the success of the charity, allowing an immediate understanding of the problems being faced, providing reassurance and support. Shared personal experience is a critical factor in dealing with the major crises that affect many of our veterans.

Our output is in three areas.

Experience – Firstly, in the provision of days out, privileged access to big events and in a first hand, front seat, white knuckle introduction to an exciting and engaging sport.
Competition – The preparation, development, coaching and teamwork involved in competition is a hugely cathartic experience. By engaging in sprints, hill climbs, track racing, and rallying we engender a real team ethos. It is about much more than just the driving – car and boat preparation, logistics, support and race management all present challenges to be overcome. This can greatly help in the rebuilding of an individual’s confidence and provides emotional as well as practical support, and we are chock full of examples of where that is exactly the case – where participation in motorsport is changing lives for the better.
Vocation – Mission Motorsport provides a range of training courses and educational opportunities to suit the needs of individuals. These range from one day basic car maintenance courses at our workshop near Tedworth House; to a Modular Motorsport Foundation course culminating in a residential placement working with a major race team
