Military Children at Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Ceremony

Never Such Innocence received an invitation from Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, for our Military Kids Choir to sing their song ‘Dandelions’ at the Armed Forces Day Flag Raising ceremony!

Elliott also got to read, ‘One Empty Chair’ – his winning poem from our Month of the Military Child Poetry competition. It was a really special day for the military children and their families.

One parent shared,

‘It was lovely to be invited to an event to celebrate and mark the importance of the work of the armed forces. It makes deployments (3 months to go!) and general life chaos feel recognised – which does help! It also felt lovely to do the day after Father’s Day- a quiet one for lots of military families.’

One of the Military Kids Choir members shared,

‘The most recent NSI trip to the Houses of Parliament was a really cool experience. I enjoyed it because I got to see where all the important decisions that needed to be made were discussed and debated. I especially enjoyed singing in front of my parents and some really amazing people. I like being able to do this sort of thing with the choir as I am able to meet people who have been through the same situations as a child and be able to talk about our cool experience of being military children.’
