DMWS: Armed Forces Covenant Gold Employer Recognition

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) is a Ministry of Defence run scheme which encourages employers to support the work of the Ministry of Defence, and inspire others to do the same. The ERS Gold award is the highest award of the scheme, recognising organisations who actively support the Armed Forces community in their workplace.

Broughton House signs Armed Forces Covenant

Broughton House has signed the Armed Forces Covenant as a pledge of support for the service community.

Professor Sir Netar Mallick, chairman of Broughton House, and Colonel Philip Harrison, commander of the British Army Headquarters in the north west, signed the covenant at a ceremony attended by civic and armed forces dignitaries accompanied by Ty Platten, chief executive of Broughton House.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national commitment to those who serve or have served, that they and their families should be treated with fairness and respect in their communities and receive support which recognises their contribution to the nation by helping them in areas such as starting a new career, access to healthcare, education and family well-being and financial assistance.

Hampshire teams up with DMWS Training to deliver Covenant funded courses

Hampshire County Council and its partners have secured funding from the Armed Forced Covenant Fund to encourage support to the Armed Forces community and strengthen local government’s delivery of the Covenant. The Council decided to use part of the fund for staff training delivered by the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) to increase understanding and awareness of the Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund funds projects that support military communities. With around 20,000 serving personnel and 60,000 veterans currently living in Hampshire, the county has one of the largest military communities in England. Due to this significant high number of residents with a military background, Hampshire County Council identified the benefit for further funding to train staff on different aspects of service life.
