NFF & Headspace

Introducing Headspace – a new service for the families of serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel.

Dealing with challenges is part and parcel of Naval family life, but in these strange times, with the whole country having to deal with the effects and uncertainties of an evolving pandemic, some members of those Naval families might benefit from some extra support.

The NFF is delighted to offer families free access to the Headspace App for a twelve-month pilot, starting in November 2020.

Covid-19 has brought many additional new challenges, such as home-schooling, working from home and being apart from our usual network of family and friends.

We believe that the Headspace App can help, by giving you the skills you need to be able to focus on your own health and wellbeing.

The pilot has the strong support of Navy Command, who absolutely recognise the huge value Service families add through supporting their loved ones, and who are a crucial enabler in the Royal Navy’s ability to continue to deliver successfully on operations.

What is Headspace?

Headspace is a platform for mindful living, meaning you can take it with you on a walk, a run or you can even do a workout with one of the Headspace trainers. You can use it to help you get to sleep with guided sleepcasts and music, as well as all the mindfulness courses on any topic you can think of. There are even topics and courses for children. Headspace also partners with many sports institutions to support developing a performance mindset for athletes. It’s really a gym membership for your mind. More information can be found on their website.

What you need to do

We need families to register their interest for this project before we ‘go live’ in November, so that Headspace can start to set up all of the technical bits and pieces ahead of time.

If you would like to pre-register for a free Headspace account, please complete this form*. We need this information so that we can confirm your eligibility as a non-serving member of a Royal Navy or Royal Marines family**. Please be assured that the NFF will only share your name and email address with the Headspace team so that your account can be created.

*Please note:

  • There are a limited number of licences available so we can only offer one licence per family.
  • These will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
  • The licences will last for 12 months, and will go live in November 2020, so the earlier you register, the more beneficial it will be.

**This particular service is only open to non-serving family members. Our serving community already has access to the HeadFit for Life programme.
