The Officers’ Association will target Operations Management as a potential job sector for transitioning officers with a workshop in York, on Feb 15th, 2017.

Hosted by Portakabin, the workshop will combine insight into the sector with practical experiences from key speakers as well as looking at the military qualifications that will translate across to the sector. Advice on shaping applications (and CV’s) to target the sector will be available.

Frank Millar, Chief Operating Officer at the Centre for Process Innovation (Catapult) will be sharing executive level experience within high value manufacturing. David Thomas, Project Manager at A&E, NHS will discuss the operational challenges of running an A&E department and Portakabin will explore operational delivery within the manufacturing and service industry.

This new workshop, the first to be held on Operations Management, builds on the success of the established OA workshops series in Risk, Project and Facilities Management and forms part of the OA events programme designed to deliver insight into key sectors for officers.

Targeted at those considering the next steps in their career, we aim to demonstrate just how relevant the skills and expertise acquired in the military is to operational roles.  The workshop will provide ample opportunity to network with current managers and recruiters in the civilian sector and is free to attend.

“Operations Management is seen as a common career path but exploring what this will look like in a number of different sectors will benefit the job seeker and further encourage individuals to find the best fit for them.” says, Pete Liddle, OA Business Development Manager.

Keeping the workshop informal, registration will open at 10:00 for a 10:30 start and finishes at 3pm. Limited spaces left – please book early for the OA Operations Management Workshop on 15th February.
