RAF Association – Volunteer Coordinator

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

£21375 – £22500 37.5 hours per week worked Monday – Friday

About us

The RAF Association exists to support the RAF community across a variety of services. We are proud to have supported over 81,000 members of the RAF community in the last year with both practical and emotional assistance, despite the many challenges presented to us because of the pandemic.  Our focus for 2021 and beyond is to continue to deliver our existing services, in addition to developing new services that are both sustainable and effective.

About the team

You will be part of our Volunteer and Befriending service, branded internally as ‘Connections for Life’.  By listening to and understanding customer needs, our team of friendly and committed co-ordinators introduce suitable volunteers who will provide ongoing telephone friendship helping those in need feel less isolated. Whilst no two days will be the same, you will be part of delivering something really special and feel the rewards of seeing this service touching the lives of those who really need it.

About you

You may already have some experience of volunteer or wellbeing support but this is not essential.  What we need from you is a genuine desire to help.  You will have great people skills, an empathetic approach and be a good listener.  You will ideally have strong telephone based experience, though this is not a typical call centre environment, you will be dealing with matters of a sensitive nature, therefore a high degree of confidentially and emotional resilience is key.  Overall if you are looking for a fresh challenge where you can use your telephone and administrative skills to support something with purpose within a values driven organisation, this role could be for you.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a fantastic engaged environment committed to really making a difference.  We offer a wide range of benefits including generous holiday entitlement – 36 days including bank holidays, as well as a range of other benefits including pension, EAP and 4 x times life cover.  Employee’s also have the opportunity to take part in a number of fundraising events as volunteers, for which there is additional leave provision of 1 day per year.

To apply, please send your CV and short covering letter explaining your interest and skills related to the position to jobs@rafa.org.uk.  Applicants who demonstrate they meet the key criteria can expect a short friendly phone call to have a chat about the role and you will have the chance to tell us a little more detail.
