RAF Veteran to walk 874 miles for Forces Families

Phil joined the RAF straight from school aged 17 and served 28 years, deploying all over the world including Germany, Afghanistan, Falklands, Balkans, and both Gulf wars.

Phil Cavanagh is completing a virtual walk from Lands’ End to John O Groats covering 874miles. The event started on 1 January 2021 and the end date is 31 December 2021. Phil has already completed 823 miles, covering over 85 miles in the last week. If he finishes by 31 March he will receive a gold medal, which is now well within his sights and needs to walk 8.5 miles per day to achieve this.

“As an ex-serviceman I wanted to raise money for a charity that would help families of those still serving or retired, particularly those suffering with mental health issues. I asked a friend who had suffered with PTSD and he suggested The Ripple Pond because of how great they had been for his own family.”

We are extremely grateful to Phil for thinking of The Ripple Pond, the charity solely relies on grants and donations to continue to support the Forces family.

By donating to Phil you will be helping Forces families get the vital support they need to enable them to support their loved ones through difficult times. Donate here.
