The 8th annual Guildhall dinner, hosted by RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, was an extraordinary evening of camaraderie, reflection, and support, raising significant funds to benefit the Royal Marines family.
Held on 14 November, this year’s event marked a pivotal moment as the Corps celebrates its 360th anniversary and the 80th anniversary of D-Day, underscoring the theme: ‘Honouring the Legacy, Embracing the Future.’
Guests were moved by emotional and memorable speeches, including those by Aldo Kane, former Royal Marine and TV adventurer, who captivated the 500 strong audience, who included Bear Grylls OBE and Jason “Foxy” Fox. Aldo’s heartfelt words brought the challenges and achievements of the Royal Marines family to life. His personal connection to the Corps added a powerful dimension to the event, further enhanced by the presence of his twin brother, who is still serving.
The evening also featured a keynote address by Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Stickland KCB OBE RM, highlighting the life-changing support the charity provides. In 2023 alone, RMA – The Royal Marines Charity delivered over £3.6 million in benevolent aid and, since 2008, has given more than £30 million to serving and retired Royal Marines and their families.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Keith Breslauer, Vice Patron and lead sponsor, whose unwavering commitment has supported the charity’s mission for over a decade.
RMA – The Royal Marines Director of Fundraising & Communication, Caroline Casey said:
“The Guildhall dinner is more than a fundraising event; it’s a celebration of the remarkable resilience and unity of the Royal Marines family. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and supported the evening. Together, we are ensuring that the legacy of the Corps continues, while embracing a future where no member of the Royal Marines family is left behind.”
Funds raised during the evening will go directly towards providing essential mental health support, financial assistance, and guidance for transition to civilian life, ensuring the continued welfare of the Royal Marines family.
