RNRMC awards £170,000 in grants to organisations

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) have awarded £170,000 in grants to organisations delivering vital mental health, wellbeing and resilience support to serving personnel, veterans and their families across the Naval community.

The funding will enable specialist organisations to provide a range of services, including counselling, trauma-informed support, preventative wellbeing programmes, peer support networks and resilience-building initiatives. Together, these projects will help beneficiaries manage the unique pressures associated with Naval life, maintain positive mental health and access timely support when they need it most.

Serving personnel, veterans and their families can face a variety of challenges throughout their lives, from operational pressures and deployments to transition from Service and the ongoing impact of physical and psychological trauma. Through its Open Grants programme, RNRMC invests in expert organisations with the skills, experience and capacity to deliver tailored support that meets the evolving needs of the Naval community.

Mandy Harding, Head of Commissioned Grants at RNRMC, said:

“Mental health and wellbeing are fundamental to living healthy, fulfilling lives, yet many members of the Naval community experience unique challenges throughout their service and beyond. Through these grants, RNRMC is supporting organisations that provide accessible, high-quality support when it is needed most.

“From preventative wellbeing programmes to specialist mental health interventions, these projects will help individuals build resilience, improve their wellbeing and access the support they need to thrive. We are proud to work alongside organisations that are making a meaningful difference to the lives of serving personnel, veterans and their families.”

Supporting wellbeing through specialist services

Among the organisations’ receiving funding is Veterans Regroup CIC, whose work supports women currently serving or who have served in the Naval Service, as well as female family members.

A spokesperson from Stockport County Community Trust said:

“Shoulder to Shoulder’ is a project for Royal Navy and Royal Marine veterans and their spouses. Designed to combat loneliness, mental health challenges, and cost-of-living pressures, it offers two free, weekly 90-minute sessions at Edgeley Park Stadium. The project aims to create a feeling of belonging and direct pathways into trusted community services.”
