The Royal British Legion is recruiting a 2018 Centenary Programme Manager to take a key role in the delivery of the Legion’s national programme to commemorate the Centenary of the end of the First World War.

The Royal British Legion, as the national custodian of Remembrance, is developing a suite of high profile Remembrance activity and commemorative events to mark the 100th anniversary of the pivotal event of the 20th Century, which drew to a close on 11 November 1918. The Legion itself was founded in 1921 by veterans of the First World War and continues to this day in the role it has performed from its beginning – protecting the welfare, interests, and memory of Armed Forces personnel, veterans, and their families.

The Legion will play a role in national commemorations and seek to engage with communities of all kinds to ensure the Centenary of the First World War is marked in ways which are fitting, relevant, and meaningful. The programme will involve matrix working across multiple projects with a variety of stakeholders to ensure delivery against a range of objectives.

The successful applicant will be organised, a skilled communicator with a never-fail working ethos and the ability focus stakeholders on agreed activities. Success in the role will require demonstrable experience of project management in complex and/or national organisations at Directorate levels. Proven experience of managing interdependencies to an agreed plan is essential to the role, as is PRINCE II Practitioner or other relevant project management qualification.
