Harry Burrows from Rowlands Castle is set to take on the London Marathon, raising vital funds for Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC). As a serving Marine Engineer, Harry is combining his passion for physical challenges with his commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
He was motivated to enter the London Marathon, the world-famous 26.2-mile race through the streets of the capital, to test his limits while raising money for a cause close to his heart.
While he expects the final miles to be physically and mentally demanding, Harry is looking forward to the atmosphere on race day, with friends and family cheering him on.
“Crossing the finish line and knowing I’ve completed this challenge for RNRMC will be an unforgettable moment.” Harry says.
“As someone currently serving in the Royal Navy, I see first-hand the dedication, resilience, and sacrifices that service personnel make every day,” Harry says. “RNRMC provides vital support to those who serve and their families, improving wellbeing, recovery, and quality of life. Knowing my fundraising could directly benefit members of the Armed Forces community makes this challenge even more meaningful.”
Outside of training, Harry enjoys mountaineering, kayaking, skiing, and is an avid Formula 1 fan. Running has become another way for him to push himself both physically and mentally, reflecting the same determination he applies in service.
For anyone considering a similar challenge, Harry encourages:
“Go for it. It’s tough but incredibly rewarding. You’ll learn so much about yourself and know that every step you take is helping others.”
Reflecting on the charity, he says:
“As a serving member of the Royal Navy, RNRMC represents constant support, reassurance, and opportunity for our Armed Forces community.”
Harry’s London Marathon journey is not just a test of endurance, but a way to make a real difference. Every step he takes will help RNRMC continue supporting serving personnel, veterans, and their families
