SSAFA – Military Adoption Champion

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified Social Worker to become a Military Adoption Champion in the Adoption Service at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

We are seeking experienced Social Workers to support the delivery of our Military Adoption Champion Project which is funded through a grant supplied by the Department of Education Practice and Improvement. In order for us to deliver the project we need to recruit Social Workers to undertake work with Local Authorities and Regional Adoption Agencies championing serving members of the military as potential adopters and improving the way in which they are perceived on application. The project is now underway and we need to recruit three Champions to carry forward the work of the project. A full project brief is downloadable here.

Requirements

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

  • Significant post qualifying experience of Adoption
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by Military Personnel in terms of becoming adopters
  • The professional and personal credibility to engage with managers and stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • The ability to work in a small project team as well as using your own initiative
