About the role

This is a unique opportunity for an empathic person to join our team and contribute to the further development of the service. You will have the opportunity to develop your existing skills and knowledge base in a non-statutory social work setting, providing welfare support to serving RAF personnel, their immediate family and dependents. You will be completing a range of reports and assessments for our service users. You will work closely with team and RAF colleagues, as well as with both civilian agencies and military organisations and charities. This is an exciting and sometimes unpredictable role where no two days are the same!

About the team

The Personal Support & Social Work Service comprises 60 staff nationally. We have a presence at RAF stations across the UK.

This role is located at RAF Wittering, just north of Peterborough, part of the friendly and supportive East Region.  We are a hard-working team, from diverse professional backgrounds, dispersed across the East of England. As the Personal Support & Social Work Service SSAFA is proud to have supported the RAF community for over 30 years.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a health care or social care setting, in either voluntary, statutory or third sector.
  • In depth understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Proven experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans and monitoring and reviewing outcomes – this is fundamental to excelling within this role.
  • Demonstrable organisational skills to manage a varied caseload.
  • Excellent IT skills including experience of using a case management system.

You must be prepared to travel in the course of your work and a full driving licence and use of car are essential.
