National Inclusion Week (NIW) begins across the country on September 25 and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is part of this celebration of the diversity of people working in the UK.
Founded by Inclusive Employers – experts on workplace inclusion and the first membership organisation for employers who are committed to prioritising inclusion, and of which SSAFA is proudly a member – NIW 2023 has the theme “Take Action Make Impact”.
Take Action Make Impact is a powerful – challenging, even – message that aims to get organisations and individuals thinking about what actions they can take and what positive impact these actions could and should have for marginalised colleagues.
SSAFA has developed a week filled with events that will provide learning opportunities that will enable employees to make an impact in their daily work.
Sarah Fernandes, SSAFA’s Director of People, commented on the charity’s plans for NIW, saying:
“In SSAFA, we work hard to create a culture of belonging that’s free from judgement for every beneficiary, volunteer, and employee where everyone can be accepted and celebrated for their individuality and where people can genuinely feel free from prejudice.
“National Inclusion Week is an opportunity to remind ourselves how we can spontaneously learn from each other by understanding how to deepen our empathy and compassion, and changing our emotional judgement into curiosity.“
