Supporting Armed Forces Day this weekend with coverage on BFBS from the National Event in Falmouth and Overseas

This weekend, military charity and media organisation BFBS will celebrate Armed Forces Day, by showcasing events from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 of June, including the national event in Falmouth, and overseas.

Armed Forces Day is the perfect way to show support for our armed forces community, including serving personnel, service families, cadets, and veterans.

Forces News will be at the national event in Falmouth, with coverage of the parade and flypast on Forces.net, YouTube, Facebook, and across social media @ForcesNews, bringing the colour of the day to audiences across the UK and around the forces world. The team will also be speaking to those involved, from personnel on parade, to the military leaders and dignitaries attending.

BFBS Radio will also be reporting live from Falmouth, bringing you all the action and featuring stories of soldiers, sailors, aviators, reserves, cadets, and veterans participating.

And tune in to hear how our teams based in the UK and overseas stations are marking this special day too. The team from BFBS Cyprus, who annually run Armed Forces Day events in the community, will also be reporting into programmes that can be heard worldwide over the weekend.

Head to bfbs.com/armedforces to learn how to watch and listen to the celebrations with BFBS.

To further mark Armed Forces Day, BFBS will be broadcasting the Mountbatten Festival of Music special on BFBS Radio 2 on Saturday at 10am BST. It will also be available to listen again online at BFBS.com as well as airing at 15:20 BST on BFBS Extra for our overseas TV audience.

For 50 years the Royal Albert Hall has played host to the annual Mountbatten Festival of Music featuring His Majesty’s Massed Bands of the Royal Marines. A captivating performance of enchanting melodies, extraordinary musicianship, pageantry, and a spectacle of military excellence.

During this BFBS music special, presented by Jess Bracey, you’ll hear highlights from the 2023 concert featuring classical and contemporary music, and interviews with band members as we take you behind the scenes of the rehearsal ahead of the iconic performance.
