The Royal Hospital Chelsea – Head of Outreach

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a national institution that cares for some 300 Army veterans and is looking to recruit a Head of Outreach to join its Health & Wellbeing team.  You will work alongside a small but dedicated team providing social care and welfare to our In Pensioners.

This is a new role and a unique opportunity for the post-holder to contribute to the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s service provision for the benefit of the resident community and wider veteran population.

The post holder will foster wellbeing amongst older ex-Service personnel within the wider veteran population by extending to them the comradeship of the Chelsea Pensioners, the community and experience of life at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Whilst our proposals have been developed to an early stage, there is significant scope for the right candidate to shape the delivery and strategic direction of the three phases of our outreach strategy from planning and implementation to development.

You must be a seasoned practitioner in developing and delivering outreach and therapeutic programmes for older people or those who may be isolated. The successful candidate must have excellent people skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships with charity beneficiaries, staff, and stakeholders. It would be beneficial to have a working knowledge of the military charity sector, including the ability to demonstrate established professional networks.

The salary for this role is in the region of £49,000.  Benefits include a Civil Service pension, 25 days annual leave, onsite gym and café.  As this post involves working with adults with care and support needs the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS application.

The closing date for this vacancy is Wednesday 9 June 2021.
