The UK Veterans Family Study

King’s College London and Queen’s University Belfast are conducting research focussing on veterans’ families. This is alongside Glasgow Caledonian University, Anglia Ruskin University, Veterans NHS Wales and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and Combat Stress.

They are carrying out a survey to better understand the emotional wellbeing and support needs of the families of those who have served in the UK Armed Forces. Currently, there is little research focussing on the families of those who have served. Responses to this survey could help in the development and maintenance of family support services across the four nations of the UK.

They are looking for:

• ex-service personnel of HM Armed Forces (veterans),
• spouses and partners of veterans,
• and adult children (18+) of veterans,

to complete an online anonymous survey that should last no more than 45 minutes. Ideally. they are looking for families to complete the survey; at the end of the survey participants will have the opportunity to refer their family members to complete the survey also. Family members will not be able to see each other’s responses. On completing the survey participants will have the option to enter their details into a prize draw for £50 Amazon vouchers as the research team’s way of saying thank you. Time and effort in completing this survey will benefit veterans’ families in the future.
