Salary: £24,000 – £27,000 depending on experience

Walking With The Wounded are very proud to be working with the NHS Lead Provider for the newly commissioned Path Finder, Veteran’s Mental Health High Intensity Service (HIS) in the North of England, working in a Provider Collaborative which includes Cumbria & Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Combat Stress and Walking with the Wounded. The service has been newly commissioned to provide support in the following areas:
1. Crisis Care
2. Therapeutic inpatient support
3. Care co-ordination across organisations able to support the veteran
4. Support and care of family members/carers of the veteran
The HIS team will operate across the whole of the North of England and will be a multi-disciplinary team (Mental Health Practitioners, Psychology & Liaison & Support Officers) who will provide a liaison, advice and support service for local mental health teams, the veteran and their family. The team will be supported by a clinician help line, operated by Combat Stress and the model will involve ensuring veterans are empowered to access services for health and social support via the Liaison & Support Officers (provided by Walking with the Wounded).
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) are currently recruiting for 3 Veteran Liaison & Support Officers (VLSO) spread around the North East of England to join the regional lead who has already been appointed and implement the new HIS project/pathfinder in partnership includes Cumbria & Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Combat Stress.
We are looking for a small but dedicated team who will empower ex-service personnel to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities. You will be a self-starter with the motivation and the ability to get the job done. You will form part of a wider collaborative team, you will be home based with daily travel around the region to support your clients and build relationships in the community. You will be expected to attend Multi Disciplinary Meeting at various Mental Health Trust throughout the region and work within the collaborative team.
WWTW supports those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families. We specialise in developing pathways to independence as well as employment with organisations who recognise and value the unique skills and qualities of our ex-service personnel.
We are looking for a self-starter with prior experience of working with vulnerable adults with Mental Health (MH) issues; an individual who can work independently and prioritise their tasks in line with the role’s important responsibilities. Primarily you will be part of a small team of staff at WWTW, operating in a much wider collaboration that includes the NHS, Combat Stress, other service and non-service charities as well as local support services. Your role will be to work with clients in the community (or their homes) facilitating intense support by analysing individual needs to create a support plan that will break down barriers to a successful stabilisation and navigate the pathway of their MH journey.
