Do you have experience in supporting vulnerable adults and empowering them to move forward with their journey?

Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) has an exciting opportunity for 2 Veteran Liaison & Support Officers (VLSO) spread around the North of England to support an existing team.

We are looking for two dedicated members of staff who will empower ex-service personnel to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities.  These roles will be part of a further 8 existing VLSOs across the North of England as part of a wider collaborative team to include Leeds and Yorkshire NHS Trust, WWTW and Combat Stress, the new High Intensity Service fits within NHS England’s Op Courage services. You will be home based with daily travel around the region to support your clients and build relationships in the community, whilst working as part of the wider regional NHS HIS team. You will need to be a self-starter with the motivation and the ability to get the job done.

WWTW supports those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families. We specialise in developing pathways to independence as well as employment with organisations who recognise and value the unique skills and qualities of our ex-service personnel.

We are looking for a self-starter with prior experience of working with vulnerable adults, an individual who can work independently to set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of role responsibilities.  Primarily you will be part of a small team of staff at WWTW operating in a much wider collaboration that includes the NHS, other service charities and local support services.  Your role will be to work with clients in the community (or their homes) facilitating intense support by analysing individual needs to create a support plan that will break down barriers to a successful stabilisation and navigate the pathway of their MH journey.

In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills and career as a Veterans Liaison & Support Officer in a supportive, inclusive environment. In this role, no two days are the same and every day will bring new challenges. Internal training will be provided and we encourage our staff to develop their own personal and professional skills.

For this role the successful applicants will be required to apply for an NHS honorary contract so will have to pass the NHS recruitment guidelines as well as WWTW’s. Upholding the values and professionalism of both the charity and NHS is paramount.

For an informal discussion or to hear more about the role contact Gemma McDonald 07468 608 329
