BFBS to broadcast Army v Navy 2022 as official media partner

Today, military charity and media organisation BFBS, is pleased to announce that it is the official media partner for Army v Navy 2022 and will be live broadcasting both the women’s and men’s events exclusively on its platforms on Saturday 30 April from 13:30 BST.

Army v Navy is one of the most important and popular sporting events in the military sport calendar, attracting a wide audience including serving and ex-serving men and women, as well as civilian rugby and sports fans. This year BFBS has stepped in to deliver full coverage of both matches from Twickenham Stadium, with everything you would expect to find on a live sports broadcast, including expert commentators, pitch side interviews and action replays.

The matches can be watched either live or on catch up in the UK on the Forces News YouTube channel, as well as by the military community overseas on BFBS TV.

And for those who want to listen instead of watch, BFBS Radio will have full coverage of both matches overseas and in the UK.

2022 is a particularly significant year for Army v Navy, as it marks the first year that the women’s teams will play at Twickenham Stadium, the home of English rugby. They kick off at 16:30 BST while earlier in the day, the men’s team begin the festivities with a 14:00 BST start time.

Forces News YouTube: Coverage starts at 13:30 BST

BFBS TV (overseas): Coverage starts at 13:30 BST

BFBS Radio: Coverage starts at 07:00 BST

Commander Gary Bushell RN (Rtd), Chair of Army Navy Committee, commented:

“I am delighted to announce BFBS as our media and broadcast partner for the fixtures at Twickenham on the 30 April. This partnership will ensure that the fixtures will be broadcast live, enabling our wider military family to enjoy the game wherever they are serving.

“Our thanks go to BFBS for not only the support they are providing this year but for their support over very many years to not only rugby but Service sport in general. We are especially grateful that they will be broadcasting the historic first women’s Army Navy fixture to be played on the hallowed turf of Twickenham.”

Lisa Mitchell, BFBS Director of Editorial Content, said:

“BFBS is delighted to be able to broadcast these epic matches to military supporters who can’t be at Twickenham and the wider rugby-loving public.

“Our sports team commits to covering women and men’s inter services sport comparably week-in-week-out, so it is our great pleasure to see the women at Twickenham given equal billing this year.

“Entertaining service personnel and keeping them connected with home when they’re serving overseas is our USP. Our satellite technology ensures they can enjoy the action of this hugely anticipated clash wherever they are posted.”
