Three “inspirational” school leaders present at the Tower of London

Three school leaders from Cardiff, Abergavenny and Salford recently presented to some of the UK’s top philanthropists, military representatives and journalists to talk about an innovative new programme being run at their schools.

Jon Murphy, Headteacher at Lllanfoist Fawr Primary School in Abergavenny, Zina Clark, Head of School at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Primary School Cardiff, and Helen Watson, Head of Wharton Primary School near Salford, were asked to join individuals ranging from Colonels to Royal Correspondents at the Tower of London to discuss the Prince William Awards.

During your transition journey you’re likely to hear a lot of talk about the importance of attending networking events, careers fairs, online tutorials and insight days. Insight days are often overlooked. Attending them can be seen as a bit of a ‘luxury’ yet these events are run by employers with the specific purpose of giving you a ‘taster’ into their sector or more specifically, their organisation, and can be seen as a useful stepping stone in helping you get to where you want to be.

Launchpad veterans train with Taekwon-Do champions

Two former world and European Taekwon-Do champions dropped-in to a local Liverpool sports centre this month to put on a masterclass for veterans ahead of the European Championships taking place in the city.

Master Alan Clark, England’s International Taekwon-Do Federation Head Coach, was joined by Hwang Su-il, Japanese multiple gold-medal winning world champion and ITF Technical and Education Committee member, in providing expert tuition to residents of Launchpad’s Speke House in the south of the city at the nearby Austin Rawlinson Sports Centre.

Kiltwalk to benefit vulnerable young people like Jade Scott

Tuesday 25th April 2017 – Thousands of people will be turning out for the kiltwalk in Glasgow this weekend with more charities from throughout Scotland set to benefit than ever before.

One of those to benefit is the Royal Caledonian Education Trust, which is based in Edinburgh, and provides vital grant funding to children from veteran armed forces families who are struggling to make ends meet, and often living with mental health issues, ill health and disability.
