Felix Festival is back to raise vital funds for bomb disposal charity

The Felix Festival, a live music event that fundraises thousands of pounds for those affected by military and police careers in bomb disposal, is returning by popular demand on Saturday 16th September 2017 at Silchester in Hampshire.

The music event, organised on behalf of the charity Felix Fund which provides financial and wellbeing support to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel, is this year hoped to raise £30k — surpassing the £25k raised at Felix Festival 2015.

Two blind D-Day veterans from Dorset receive prestigious medal for helping liberate France from the Nazis

Two Second World War blind veterans from Dorset were formally presented with the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion D’Honneur yesterday for their part in the liberation of France.

Peter Oliver, 89 from Bournemouth, and Edward Gaines, 92 from Poole, were presented with the prestigious honour by Capt. Francois Jean, the Honorary French Consul, on behalf of French president Emmanuel Macron, they were the first D-Day veterans to receive the honour on behalf of France’s new president.

Blind Veterans UK beneficiaries and serving Royal Navy women. Blind Veterans UK beneficiaries and former WRNS (Wrens), enjoyed a special lunch at the charity’s Brighton centre yesterday (18/05), as part of a week of events celebrating female veterans.

They were joined by women currently serving in the Royal Navy to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Wrens.

Soldiers to cycle 1,500 miles in first-ever charity ‘Tour de Troops’

Twenty bomb disposal experts from the British Army are preparing to cover 1,500 miles by bike to raise funds for Felix Fund – the charity for those affected by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

Switching blast suits for Lycra, the cyclists will begin their ride from Edinburgh to Bielefeld in Germany on June 12th and average about 100 miles per day. In just 15 days, they will visit every security-cleared EOD regiment in the first-ever Tour de Troops.

This week the NFA took a group of more than 50 veterans from service care homes and associations across the south east of England for a lunchtime trip on the Bluebell Railway. DMWS provides a unique service to fill the welfare gap

According to Sir James Lawrence Munby, President of the Family Division of the High Court of England and Wales the practice of separating elderly couples against their wishes when one or both move to care homes must end (The Times, 10 May 2017). The Defence Medical Welfare Service has been providing welfare to the Armed Forces community when they are on a medical care pathway since 1943 and has recently launched several projects to support the Aged Veteran community. Our Welfare Officers are acutely aware of the challenges faced by aged veterans and are well place to offer tailored support.
