PTSD Resolution (Charity No. 1202649) provides free, prompt and effective mental health therapy to Forces’ veterans, reservists and their families suffering from post-traumatic stress and related mental health issues. Founded in 2009, we work through a nationwide network of 200 qualified Human Givens therapists, delivering treatment both locally and online.
What sets us apart is our compassionate, non-invasive approach: clients don’t need to relive traumatic experiences in detail. We’re accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services and operate as a uniquely lean charity with no salaried staff or assets, ensuring 93% of donations go directly towards delivering therapy and essential research.
We support the Armed Forces community by removing barriers to mental health treatment. Our service requires no GP referral, offers rapid access – often booking first appointments within days – and delivers therapy in an average of six sessions. We’ve treated 4,500 clients to date, achieving an 82% completion rate with 79% showing reliable improvement and 66% recovering from PTSD, all at £910 per course.
Crucially, we support those others turn away: veterans in prison, those with addiction issues, and family members affected by living with traumatised veterans. Through our Trauma Awareness Training and Education (TATE) programme, we also help employers recognise trauma symptoms and signpost help effectively, supporting veterans’ workplace integration and wellbeing.
What makes me incredibly proud is witnessing the transformation in veterans’ lives when they receive the right support. Our sector’s commitment to leaving no one behind – whether someone is in prison, struggling with addiction, or has been turned away elsewhere – demonstrates the values our Armed Forces community embodies.
The collaborative spirit within the veterans’ charity sector is remarkable. Through partnerships like our work with Royal British Legion Industries supporting homeless veterans, or collaborations with organisations like Change Grow Live for addiction support, we’re creating a comprehensive support network. Our evidence-based approach, with published research in the BMJ Military Health journal, shows that effective, rapid treatment is possible. Seeing veterans rebuild relationships with their families, return to work, and reclaim their lives makes every challenge worthwhile.
Cobseo membership is invaluable to our work. It provides credibility and recognition within the Armed Forces community, which builds trust with veterans who might otherwise hesitate to seek help. The Cobseo network enables vital partnerships – currently, 62% of our clients come through referrals from other military charities and partner organisations.
Being part of Cobseo means we’re connected to a collaborative community where we can share best practice, avoid duplication and ensure veterans receive joined-up support. The Confederation helps amplify our voice on veterans’ mental health issues and provides access to events and forums where we can raise awareness about mental health trauma.
Colonel Tony Gauvain (retired), Chairman of PTSD Resolution, says: “Cobseo membership demonstrates our commitment to quality and collaboration, helping us reach more veterans who need our support.”
