Blind Veterans UK

Blind Veterans UK – Occupational Therapist

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Llandudno, Conwy

Most of us grow up with 5 senses and can’t imagine what it’s like to lose any one of those.

For some ex-service people, this is their reality. Suddenly their whole way of life is changed, even walking to the shops becomes a mentally and physically challenging task.

Fortunately, Blind Veterans are here to help rebuild their lives. But they can’t do it alone.

This is where you come in.

As Occupational Therapist Wellbeing Specialist, you’ll carry out assessments and interventions with our visually impaired veterans. You’ll work closely with wellbeing specialists of other disciplines in a multidisciplinary team to identify holistic wellbeing interventions to give the veterans both the motivation and ability to live a full, healthy lifestyle and engage in meaningful activities.

You’ll provide specific, targeted interventions with a focus on outcomes such as promoting independence, safety, improved wellbeing and engagement in purposeful activity. You’ll help veterans understand how to achieve a life beyond sight loss.

As Occupational Therapist Wellbeing Specialist, you’ll of course focus on this area, and will need a degree or higher qualification in Occupational Therapy, along with a current HCPC registration and experience delivering remote and face-to-face interventions.

We offer:

– Salary of £33,436.98 per annum
– Generous annual leave with the option to buy additional days
– Pension scheme with generous employer contributions
– Healthcare cash plan
– Access to legal services and mental health support
– Employee assistance programme
– Paid professional subscriptions and discounts
– Home working allowance
– Professional and personal development

Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-service people of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. We help blind ex-service people lead independent and fulfilling lives by supporting them with our in-depth expertise, experience and full range of services.

This position is subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Checks.

We are only able to accept applications from candidates who are located in and eligible to work within the UK. We are unable to provide any type of Visa sponsorship.

We embrace diversity and welcome applicants from people with a disability and from all backgrounds and cultures.
