Veteran Carl Marsh sets up his own businesses

An Army veteran from South Wales has set up two businesses after being the 100th wounded, injured and sick veteran to attend a self-employment course funded by Help for Heroes.

Carl Marsh, of Llantwit Major, South Wales has launched a celebrity interview website and a swimming instruction business thanks to support from the military charity.

He left the Army in 2010 after 12 years of service and one tour in Northern Ireland before he suffered a spinal injury and seven other health related issues which lead to him being medically discharged.

Army spouses to be the focus for new AFF employment project

The Army Families Federation is delighted to announce a new Employment Research project in partnership with the Institute for Employment Research (IER) at the University of Warwick.

After a competitive tender process, the charity has chosen Warwick to conduct research into the real and perceived barriers to employment for Army families. This highly regarded institution will be conducting surveys and interviews with Army spouses and key stakeholders to find out more about the support needed to assist military families into fulfilling careers.

Our two-day Business Start Up Skills course expands on the content from our Self Employment Discovery workshop. This course provides veterans, families, spouses, reservists and cadets from all services, who intend to start up their own businesses, specific training to enable them to launch and sustain it. This course contains a mixture of down to earth, practical advice and essential application tools to start a successful business.
