We’ll meet again – Normandy Veterans’ Reunion 2017

Following our previous Autumn get-togethers, plans are taking shape for a Reunion for Normandy Veterans again this Autumn. This year we are planning the event in Portsmouth to be held over the weekend Friday 29th September through to Sunday 1st October.

It will commence with a get-together with a light buffet supper in the Engine Room Bar, Royal Maritime Club, Portsmouth – 1900hrs on the Friday evening 29th September.

Recruiters from some of the UK’s leading military friendly organisations will answer jobseekers’ questions at the OA’s Employment Symposium, in York on 28th June.

The recruitment panel discussion is your opportunity to ask recruiters how you can secure that second career after leaving the Armed Forces. The employers will share their knowledge and experience, so you understand what they look for in a job candidate.

Local pub supports military charity with a month of fundraising

The Fox Inn, Patching has chosen to support the Worthing-based Queen Alexandra Hospital Home in July.

The month-long fundraising initiative takes place throughout July, and includes in-house collections and a pub quiz!

The quiz will take place at The Fox, Arundel Road, Patching on Tuesday 18 July at 6.30pm. It costs £5 per person to enter, and this includes a cone of chips per person. On the night, there will also be a raffle and other games for you to participate in.

The OA to Sponsor Women’s Royal Navy Cricket Club

The OA will work with the Royal Navy Cricket Club (RNCC) to support the development and promotion of cricket across the Naval Service and specifically women’s cricket, in the form of a three year sponsorship agreement.

Sponsorship from the OA will be used to purchase RNCC Women’s Team clothing and equipment, supporting RNCC and UKAFCA cricket events and assisting in the development of women’s cricket across the service through professional coaching.

British Forces TV promotes OA Virtual Careers Fair

The OA welcomed British Forces TV to our London office to speak to Head of Employment, Liz Stevens, about the Virtual Careers Fair which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

The ‘Ex-Military in Management’ Careers Fair, organised by the OA and SaluteMyJob, was aimed at serving and former Service Personnel wanting management roles in the commercial or third sectors. Over 300 people took part, and more than 100 CVs were shared with employers and recruiters.

OA to Participate in National Armed Forces Day 2017

The OA is delighted to be exhibiting at the Armed Forces Day national event in Liverpool, on Saturday 24 June. The annual event celebrates the work and dedication of British Service personnel and their dependants.

The OA stand will highlight the services we offer to serving and former officers and their dependants and will give those attending the parade, an opportunity to meet with OA staff and volunteers.
