RFEA – Specialist Vocational Advisors (Employability) Veterans (London)

£26,000 – £27,500 per annum
 Contract, full-time
 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Options to Extend)

The RFEA is launching a new programme in partnership with the Mayor of London to deliver employment support to military veterans including young people who have left the armed forces. The role will provide vocational, employability and training case-working support for Veterans and Early Service Leavers living in the 32 London Boroughs and the City of London.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assess beneficiary needs, using an Outcome Star and motivational interviewing techniques
  • Provide vocational diagnostics and advice to develop an Action Plan that will evolve with the beneficiary’s journey
  • Maintain the relationship with the beneficiary throughout the delivery of support to meet wider needs and monitor progress at specified milestones
  • Make appropriate referrals to other military charities or other organisations for wider needs. This should include local activities, or peer mentoring
  • Identify, engage with and maintain relationships with local employers, Jobcentre Plus, training organisations and volunteering organisations
  • Support beneficiaries’ entry into employment by providing support with CVs, job applications and interview techniques
  • Identify and match beneficiaries to appropriate work experience placements, work based training or volunteering in accordance with their Action Plans
  • Provide job search advice and job-brokerage using knowledge of the local employment market
  • Co-ordinate with the RFEA Ex-Forces Employment Advisors (Veterans), other RFEA programmes and partner charities to identify beneficiaries who would benefit from SVA case working support
  • Monitor successful employment placements as a key component of overall outcomes and contribute to wider outcomes monitoring as required
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity in all interactions with the data management system (ADAPT). This will involve ensuring timely recording of all client and employer/organisational engagement activity in accordance with funder criteria
  • Produce good news case studies for funders and to support and promote the programme
