Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund – Housing Executive

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Circa £39k salary and benefits

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity, and facilitates the provision of help and support for serving and ex-RAF personnel and their eligible dependants who are in need of assistance. Part of this support is providing help to maintain the homes of our beneficiaries through grants and loans for repairs and adaptations. Additionally the Fund provides bespoke housing to support those exiting the RAF with significant disabilities through our Housing Trust.

Following internal promotions, we are seeking a compassionate and highly organised individual to join the Housing & Care team which delivers housing solutions as part of our overall support for the RAF family. Working collegiately within a team of welfare executives, you will have responsibility for identifying the needs of beneficiaries, delivering appropriate holistic assistance within delegated spending authority and presenting higher value applications to the Fund’s Grants Committees. In addition to an ability to handle welfare casework, the Housing Executive is involved in the administration of the Fund’s loans and the management of a portfolio of Housing Trust properties, which requires working with solicitors, surveyors and occupational therapists to ensure that our loans and properties are well maintained.

The successful candidate will need to have relevant welfare experience and preferably some experience of property management, although relevant training will be provided. An articulate communicator with IT skills suited to working in a paperless environment, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages, especially vulnerable beneficiaries, in a manner which is conducive to relieving stresses and concerns through holistic consideration and delivery of welfare solutions.

A detailed job profile is available on the Fund’s website, www.rafbf.org.uk. For an informal discussion about the role please contact Philip Wiles, Head of Housing & Care, on 020 7307 3355.

To apply, please send your CV together with a covering letter detailing why you believe you are suitable for this role and providing examples of how you meet the person specification to Pete Thompson, HR Manager, RAF Benevolent Fund, 67 Portland Place, London W1B 1AR or email pete.thompson@rafbf.org.uk. Letters & CVs should be no longer than 3 & 2 pages, respectively.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Thursday 24th August 2017.  Long listed candidates will be called forward to complete skills tests, with interviews for the final shortlisted candidates taking place on the afternoon of Wednesday 6th September.

Please note that only candidates shortlisted for interview will be notified.

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is a Registered Charity (No. 1081009) which encourages applications from all sections of the community.
